Town of Shibamata a blast from the past

Shibamata, Tokyo is a throwback to the Showa Era, enjoy the architecture and taste the rare traditional treats. Shibamata gained fame as the main setting for the movie series "Otoko wa Tsurai Yo" (It's Tough Being a Man). The lead character, Tora-san, embodies many traditional values, such as friendliness, trust, loyalty, honesty and a never-give-up spirit, traits that still resonate in this atmospheric town.

Even better, shopkeepers in Shibamata are generally receptive to being photographed. Aside from walking around the streets, you may want to visit Taishakuten Temple and ride the traditional human-propelled ferry across the Edo river.

Shibamata is also one of the featured locations of www.phototour.tokyo.
