The Tokaido Line

The Tokaido line covers 700km from Tokyo to Kobe station, the longest distance among all local trains in Japan. However, one train on the line will not take you from Tokyo to Kobe. You will have to transfer many times. In the Tokyo area, the Tokaido line runs from Tokyo station South to Yokohama and then West to Ito on the Izu Peninsula. It is the fastest way to get from Tokyo to Yokohama, without using the Shinkansen, only stopping at Kawasaki station on the way. The Tokaido line is also very convenient to get to the hot springs of Atami and the beaches of Izu Peninsula.
