Found a lost item in Japan? Here’s what to do

  1. At a shopping center or mall: Head to the nearest information desk to hand it in.
  2. In a convenience store or shop: Give the item to a cashier or staff member who will hold it until the owner returns.
  3. At a train station: Hand it to the train staff, usually near the ticket gates.
  4. In a public space (for example, on the street): Take it to the nearest police station.
