Jousen-ji Temple offers a pocket of tranquility amidst the bustling Shibuya district. Founded in 1588, it is also known as the Temple of Flowers, celebrated for its vibrant blooms year-round.

In addition to its floral beauty, the temple is linked to the mythical kappa from Japanese folklore. In fact, you will find over 300 images of these mischievous, human-like creatures with webbed hands and feet throughout the garden. Why? That’s because a natural spring once welled out on the temple grounds, which led to the deification of these water-dwelling beings.
