Every prefecture in Japan has some type of meibutsu (regional specialty). Although it’s food-related in most cases, meibutsu can refer to any well-known product or area of interest from that region–whether it’s the ancient Bizen ware pottery in Okayama or the art of Japanese swordsmithing in Gifu Prefecture.

Whichever prefecture you visit in Japan, I recommend taking note of its meibutsu so that you can experience it when you’re there.
