Hello! I’m Swastika and I’ve been adventuring around Japan (mostly academics, sometimes mountains) for the last seven years. I’m particularly passionate about sharing stories from the Tohoku region, language-related anecdotes, and anything poetry & food-related! I’m based out of Namie, Fukushima, right now.
“I love the Japanese language; I think it’s opened many doors for me symbolically and literally. Other than my full-time job at a tourism and town regeneration startup in Fukushima, I also teach Japanese to students of international origin part-time and find myself falling in love with the language afresh each time. I also love the laid-back inaka (village) life, where everything shuts before 11 p.m. and you can even catch brief glimpses of the Milky Way.”
