Every spring, my family and I make our way to Jiyugaoka for the delightful tradition of hanami (cherry blossom-watching).
I recommend getting off at Midorigaoka Station on the Oimachi Line and taking a leisurely 20 to 30-minute walk toward Jiyugaoka. Green Street is particularly beautiful in spring, lined up with cherry trees for about 300 meters.
Once you reach Jiyugaoka, I recommend stopping by Jiyugaoka Sweet Forest especially if you’re crazy about desserts. Inside the adorable pink structure that resembles something straight out of Alice in Wonderland, you will find a range of stores offering delicious and beautifully decorated cakes, cookies and more.
This year, by chance, we also visited the Tokyo Institute of Technology located in front of Ookayama Station. The university campus is open to the public and boasts stunning cherry trees. I’ve attached a couple of photos to capture their beauty.
