If you’re looking for an omiyage (souvenir) at Tokyo Station, you may be at a complete loss because there are just so many choices! So, here’s my recommendation to make things a little easier–Goma Tamago!
This Tokyo-born confectionery translates to “sesame egg”, which is very accurate because each individually (and elegantly) wrapped treat resembles a smooth egg. But of course, as soon as you bite into it, you will quickly understand that the white “shell” is a beautiful sugar coating with a layer of fluffy sponge cake and nutty black sesame paste inside. The combination of all of these flavors and textures creates an eating experience that will make you want to come back for more.
