Nestled in the heart of Hokkaido, Farm Tomita is renowned for its breathtaking lavender fields, attracting visitors from around the globe each summer. The lavender typically begins to bloom in late June, reaching its vibrant peak from mid-July to early August.

The farm’s history dates back to 1903, when Tokuma Tomita began cultivating the land in Nakafurano. Lavender cultivation commenced in 1958 under the guidance of his grandson, Tadao Tomita. Over the years, Farm Tomita has expanded into one of Japan’s most prominent lavender farms, offering visitors a sensory delight with its vast fields and aromatic blooms. Even during the off-season, such as October, the farm’s rainbow fields of flowers provide a stunning visual spectacle.

Visitors can indulge in a variety of lavender-infused products, including the famed lavender soft-serve ice cream, lavender soda, and Hokkaido vegetable curry. The farm also produces its own lavender essential oil, which won first prize at a lavender oil contest held in France in 1990. A visit to the gift shops offers an array of these fragrant souvenirs to commemorate your experience.
