Looking for love? Visit Kyoto’s Jishu Shrine, the Cupid of Japan

Jishu Shrine is located behind Koyto’s Kiyomizu-dera, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Japan founded over 1,200 years ago. Dedicated to the deity of love and relationships, Jishu Shrine attracts those from all over the country who wish to find or maintain romance in their lives.

In front of the shrine, there are two stones placed 18 meters apart. If you can find your way from one to the other with your eyes closed, it is said to bring luck in finding love. As a very popular spot, it can feel impossible to get to the other stone or to do so without people getting in your way. For the highest chance at success, I would recommend getting there early in the morning, if you wish to try your hand (or feet) at love.
