Even if you can’t eat raw fish (like me), that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy sushi. Inari-zushi is one of my favorites–a sweet fried tofu pouch stuffed with vinegared rice. You also can’t miss tamago-maki that features a slice of fried egg atop vinegared rice, held together by a strip of nori (seaweed)—simple but delicious.
This may be out of your comfort zone if you’ve never had it, but I urge you to be brave and try natto-maki–vinegared rice topped with fermented soybeans and wrapped in nori. The sticky texture and distinct scent of natto makes it quite an acquired taste but it’s definitely worth a try.
