My karaoke tips in Japan: It’s all about group fun!

It is entirely up to you and your group, but here’s how I like to enjoy karaoke with my friends.

First, I usually choose classic sing-alongs that everybody knows. Although it can be fun to take turns singing personal favorites, there’s something incredibly cathartic and bonding about belting out a song together.

Second, pass around the microphone! You typically only get two mics per room, which may not be enough for the group. In which case, you just have to pass it around so that everyone gets a chance. If it’s not your turn to sing into the mic, you can still add your own flare to the performance using the tambourines and maracas!
