Hello. My name is Paul Martin. I am British, but I have resided in the center of Japan’s sword world for over twenty years. I am passionate about conserving both intangible traditional crafts and tangible historical swords and passing them on to future generations. I am also a 6th dan practitioner certified by the All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF) in iaido.
I think that learning about the Japanese sword, whether through traditional martial arts or as a cultural, spiritual art object in itself, is one of the quickest routes to understanding Japan as a whole.
