Under an hour from Tokyo by train, Zushi Beach is a great family-friendly spot known for its shallow waters and quiet waves.

Summer fun near Tokyo

Zushi Beach may not offer Okinawan- or Hawaiian-style crystal-clear water, but it’s still good for feeling the summer vibes. On clear days, you can see Mt. Fuji.

A nice perk is the free showers available during the summer at specific times. If you’re looking for a beach near Tokyo, Zushi is a great choice — just keep your expectations modest!

In order to keep the beach family-friendly, rules can be on the strict side, with alcohol, BBQs, exposed tattoos, and loudspeakers prohibited during business hours. “Umi no Ie” beach houses, of which there are many, do offer food and drink (including alcohol) though, alongside toilets, lockers, and beach gear rentals.

Getting there

Zushi Beach is about a 15-minute walk from Zushi Station, which is served by the Yokosuka Line and Shonan-Shinjuku Line. The nearby Zushi-Hayama Station is served by the Keikyu Zushi Line.
