You can feel a little down when you’ve planned a fun, active weekend in Tokyo or Yokohama, only to realize it’s going to be raining the whole time. In that case…what do you do?
Go to the spa, of course!
You have many options depending on your location, including (but not limited to) LaQua, Thermae Yu, Toshimaen Niwa-no-Yu, Saya-no-Yudokoro, or Toyosu Manyo Club in Tokyo, as well as EAS and Minatomirai Manyo Club in Yokohama. In addition to onsen, some of these places have ganbanyoku, which is a Japanese-style hot stone therapy for total heavenly relaxation.
The spa typically provides you with a set of clothes, which you wear to enter the ganbanyoku, so genders can be mixed. Naturally, these places tend to be popular date spots, but they are also great for solo visitors who want a bit of a spa experience, while avoiding the clothesless-ness requirement of onsen.
