Whether it’s minor or severe, if you get into a car accident in Japan, both affected parties (no matter who is at fault) must stop, move to the side of the road and call the police by dialing 110.
While you’re waiting for the police, both parties should exchange information such as name, address, insurance details and license number. You will need this information when contacting your car insurance company regarding damage coverages and compensation.
